Community Health Fair Set at Good Shepherd

Working with Murphy Medical Center, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Hayesville will present a Community Health Fair on Friday, September 23 from 7 until 11 a.m. at the church. Admission is free, and all are welcome to come to learn about heart and lung disease, asthma, cancer, diabetes, anxiety and depression, and the right way to eat and exercise.

The Health Fair will feature numerous experts from hospital staff and community health-related organizations who can provide answers to health-related questions. Representatives from the following agencies will be on site:

  • Dr. Michael E. Nemey, General Surgeon
  • PARC Fitness and Rehabilitation Center
  • Hayesville Senior Center
  • Faith Community Health Ministry
  • Clay County Health Department
  • Clay County Transit
  • Renewed Hope Ministries
  • Clay County Sheriff's Department
  • Clay County EMS

Participants in the fair can ask questions from pharmacy staff about their current medications, learn about advances in wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, speak with a home health specialist, and learn about the newest advances in 3-D mammography and wide-bore MRI imaging. In addition, some valuable health evaluations will be available, including baseline lung function performance evaluation and EKG testing.In addition, fee-based lab testing services will be available.

Lab costs are set at $31.00 for women and $41.00 for men (includes PSA testing) and $15.00 for Diabetes A1C screening. Fees must be paid by cash or check on the event day. Anyone who plans to have blood drawn for the screening labs should not have anything to eat or drink after midnight, September 22.
