I don’t know how it happened, but Thanksgiving is almost here! Parish Life will once again sponsor the Parish Thanksgiving Celebration. On November 28, the Parish Hall will be decorated, turkeys will be cooked and we can all get together for a sumptuous Thanksgiving Feast. The meal is scheduled to start after the Thanksgiving Worship Service at 11 a.m..
As before, Parish Life will provide turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, wild rice stuffing, bread dressing, gravy, the new addition to the menu of Ellie Wilson’s dinner rolls and drinks. Attendees are asked to contribute a side dish and/or dessert.
You and your family are welcome to attend. If you have a friend or neighbor who will be alone for the holiday, please invite them. Planning and executing a meal worthy of being called The Good Shepherd Thanksgiving Feast requires a lot of planning and preparation, and (sigh) also cleanup. Sign up sheets to help are on the bulletin board in the hallway. We will need help with setting up and decorating the Parish Hall and we also need some help with food prep on Wednesday, November 27. We will need some help in the kitchen with food service, carving turkeys and cleanup on Thursday, November 28. Check your calendars and sign up so we can get this show going.
This celebration is one of my favorite events at Good Shepherd. I am honored that Parish Life asks me to plan and cook (my favorite thing). It is always so special to sit with my church family and enjoy this feast. God bless you all for joining in and making the feast truly memorable each year.
