Deuteronomy

  • Good Shepherd Episcopal Church 495 Herbert Hills Dr Hayesville, NC, 28904 (map)

Arguably the most influential book of the Old Testament for Christians, the book Deuteronomy re-presents the Law given in the Torah with interpretation by Moses who appears as both teacher and prophet. The book serves as the conclusion of the Pentateuch and the wilderness journey of Israel as they stand at the cusp of the promised land. With all the persuasion and encouragement a pastor can muster, and knowing that his ministry has come to an end, Moses does his best to see that the people understand why they must keep and live by Torah. This is his farewell address as Jesus later gives his farewell in the Gospel according to John.

There will be no communal meal preceding this series, unlike the Lenten Supper Series.
