Reel Theology - Movie Night

  • Good Shepherd Episcopal Church 495 Herbert Hills Dr Hayesville, NC, 28904 (map)

On Friday, July 21 we will have the opportunity to view together A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. This is a movie in which the lead character, Mister Rogers, is played superbly by Tom Hanks. This film illustrates how Fred Rogers, an ordained Presbyterian minister, moves and works in a secular setting, carrying in his person and displaying in his interactions the values we have come to call “Christian.” This he does without any evangelizing language or sectarian judgment. Fred Rogers is a model of how to be a Christian in a secular world. There is much in this movie upon which to reflect, as we seek to work with a wide assortment of religiously-oriented and non-religious people, joining forces to address the Hayesville housing-insecurity issue.

Dinner will be at 6:00pm, pizza from Angelo’s, with salad and beverages provided. The movie will start at 7:00pm.
