Sacred Threads Returns

  • Good Shepherd Episcopal Church 495 Herbert Hills Dr Hayesville, NC, 28904 (map)

Once again Good Shepherd has been awarded the honor and prestige of hosting Sacred Threads, a traveling exhibit of 38 art quilts. As you may remember, Good Shepherd welcomed over 1,000 visitors to the exhibit held here in 2016 and over 800 visitors in 2018! During the current exhibition cycle we are the only host venue in Western North Carolina. The exhibit will be on display October 9-18, 2023 in our Parish Hall.

Sacred Threads is an exhibition of art quilts exploring themes of inspiration, spirituality, healing, grief and peace/brotherhood. This biennial exhibition was established to provide a safe venue for quilters who see their work as a connection to the sacred and/or as an expression of their spiritual journey.

Good Shepherd quilters are invited to loan a quilt to be displayed in the Parish Hall in September ahead of the Sacred Threads exhibition. Contact Kathy Rarey 502 525 7256 or kprarey@yahoo.com.

The Arts and Spirituality Ministry invites you to become involved with this exciting event. Volunteers will be needed to serve as docents during the public exhibition hours from October 9-18. Watch for sign-up sheets in the hallway as we get closer to the event. Your help will be needed to welcome visitors to our parish!
