On Monday evenings at 5pm in the month of May, grab your dinner and favorite libation and join us for a reading and conversation on the Gospel according to Mark. Mark is generally believed to be the first of the Gospels, written in Roman for a largely Gentile audience, sometime immediately prior to or shortly after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in 70 A.D. Its author is anonymous, yet early attribution was given to Mark, a companion of Peter.
While lacking some of the content and fullness of Luke and Matthew, Mark has a literary strategy, employs well known literary forms, and makes his own theological statements.
Who is this messiah and what is his purpose? What is his call upon his disciples and upon us? Join us for the conversation.
