Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Hayesville has joined in a new venture: cleaning up a boat ramp and shoreline on beautiful Lake Chatuge. The church is now a partner in the state of North Carolina's “Adopt a Boat Ramp” environmental stewardship program. So once a month, starting October 22, a group from Good Shepherd meets at the Ledford Chapel Boat Ramp at the end of Ledford Chapel Road to clear the ramp and shoreline surrounding it of debris and recyclable items.
At the first cleanup, eight enthusiastic volunteers completed the job in short order. The workers were Father Bill Breedlove (Rector of the church), Susan Morgan, Betsi Wilson, Amy Nicolson, Kanute Rarey, Chuck Underwood, Fred King, and Mary Stewart King. All the workers want to thank the public for their respectful use of the area.
